Rehab News: Jagger backs Winehouse to beat alcohol addiction

Rock legend Mick Jagger has backed Amy Winehouse to overcome her drug and alcohol problems.

The veteran snake-hipped singer said it was important that the young singer came through drug and alcohol treatment and looked to the future.

After a torrid year for the Back to Black singer, Winehouse has seen her drug-taking and alcohol abuse come under the spotlight of media intensity.

However, Jagger believes that with the right attitude and the right help she can put her career – and her life – back on track.

"I think everyone goes through this sort of thing when they become very famous," he commented.

"Hopefully Amy will come out of the other side with equanimity and a new lease of life."

The Rolling Stones front-man performed alongside the young jazz singer earlier this year at the Isle of Wight Festival.
