Introduction
Located in the beautiful coastal town of Eastbourne, East Sussex, the main part of the hospital building is a sympathetically converted 19th century Vicarage.
The clinic is an independent hospital providing mental health care. Treatment is available for any individual aged 18 and upwards. Within the hospital is a dedicated Perinatal Mental health Inpatient and day-patient service. The inpatient service has been endorsed by the local NHS Trust and enjoys ‘preferred provider’ status
with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Best practice informs the treatment approach, including cognitive behavioural therapy. The multi-disciplinary team includes Consultant Psychiatrists, Associate Specialists, Psychotherapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Nursery Nurse, Liaison Health Visitor and Health Care Assistants.

Programme overview
Every patient will be allocated a named primary nurse and will receive treatment tailored to their specific and individual needs, under the direct care of a Consultant Psychiatrist.
On admission you will be seen by a Psychiatric associate specialist and undergo an initial and thorough physical and psychiatric assessment which will inform your initial treatment plan.
Our in-house psychotherapy team will provide psychological therapies, utilising a wide variety of psychotherapeutic models including integrative and psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, brief solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Holistic and recreational therapies include Tai Chi, Meditation, Sound Therapy, table tennis, badminton (weather- permitting), seaside walks and exploration of the surrounding country side. Eastbourne has a range of leisure facilities including cinemas, ten pin bowling and swimming pools which patients are encouraged to utilise during their recovery.
Facilities at the hospital
The clinic offers tasteful, homely and comfortable accommodation.
Single occupancy rooms with en-suite bathroom / shower room. Each room has a television and telephone, alternatively there is a communal pay phone available in the dining room. You are permitted to bring your own portable electrical items, which will be PAT tested prior to their use.
There is a large communal lounge, where people can watch television or DVDs together, play cards, board games or table tennis.
The kitchen and dining room provide food of an exceptionally high standard with choices to satisfy all your nutritional requirements, including freshly prepared ‘soft foods’ for our infant population. Our chefs are always on hand to offer expert advice.
The house keeping department provide a weekly laundry service and for mothers admitted with their infants, there is a separate accessible facility in the Perinatal unit for use as and when required.
A pleasant and mature garden, with sun patio and badminton area.
There is a dedicated external smoking shelter as smoking is only permitted in the grounds.
NB. Mothers can discuss the option and benefit of occasional overnight visits for their partners (a small charge would be incurred and will be dependent on the patient population at the time).
